Beijing Normal University 2027 Admission Brochure for Graduate Credit Program (Chinese-taught)
I. Application Requirements
1. Applicants should be in good health and of good character, respect Chinese habits and customs, and abide by both Chinese Law & Regulations as well as the university’s Rules & Regulations.
2. Non-Chinese citizens aged between 18 and 45 with a valid foreign passport.
3. Current master’s students (including) or above.
4. Applicants must meet the relative Chinese proficiency requirements. Applicant with prior/current academic qualification taught in Chinese is exempt from submitting an HSK certificate.
Chinese-taught master's students
-School of International Chinese Language Education: Minimum score of 220 and above in the HSK (Level 6), Minimum score of 65 and above in the HSKK (advanced);
-School of Chinese Language and Literature: Minimum score of 210 and above in the HSK (Level 5);
-Other majors: Minimum score of 195 and above in the HSK (Level 5).
Chinese-taught doctorate students
-School of International Chinese Language Education: Minimum score of 240 and above in the HSK (Level 6), Minimum score of 65 and above in the HSKK (advanced);
-School of Chinese Language and Literature: Minimum score of 210 and above in the HSK (Level 5);
-Other majors: Minimum score of 195 and above in the HSK (Level 5).
II. Application Period
Spring Semester (starting in March 2027) : October 10, 2026 -- December 15, 2026
If requested to supplement materials, the deadline for re-submission is December 20.
Fall Semester (starting in September 2026) : March 10, 2026 -- June 30, 2026
III. Application Procedures
1. Online application. Log on to Beijing Normal University Online Application System For International Students at https://international.bnu.edu.cn/, register and complete the application, upload the electronic version of the application documents according to the requirements in Part IV, and pay the application fee of 450RMB.
2. Review. After submitting the application, it goes to the review process. Applicants may attend online interviews if required.
3. Print the application form. Upon passing the preliminary review, please download and print the Application Form for International Students from BNU’s Online Application System. This form is auto‑generated by the system upon your online application submission.
4. Sign and send the electronic application form. Please send the scanned signed application form to nondegree@bnu.edu.cn according to the instructions.
IV. Application Documents
1. Beijing Normal University International Students Application Form. Please log on to the Beijing Normal University International Student Online Application System (https://international.bnu.edu.cn/) and fill in the form online.
2. Passport Bio Page. Applicants who have a Chinese visa must provide the recent visa page.
3. Final Degree Certificate or Certificate of Enrollment.
4. Transcript of the final academic study period.
5. HSK certificate and transcript; Or the certificate issued by the institution that the prior/current academic degree is taught in Chinese.
6. Two letters of recommendation from teachers. Exchange students or students dispatched by partner institutions according to the agreement only need to provide one letter of recommendation from their teacher. The letter of recommendation has no fixed format, but it must be signed by the teacher.
7. Non-criminal Record. Exchange students are not required to submit.
8. Application fee of RMB 450. Please pay online through your personal account on Beijing Normal University International Student Online Application System (https://international.bnu.edu.cn/). Application fees can be waived for exchange students according to the relevant agreement.
* All application documents must be in Chinese or English. Please provide the notarized version of documents translated to Chinese or English from other languages.
* The application fee is non-refundable. It will not be returned regardless of whether the applicant is admitted by the Institution.
* Applicants studying at a higher education institution in China during the application period, if admitted, must provide a completion or graduation certificate issued by that institution upon registration.

VI. Tuition Fee (Unit: RMB)
Liberal Arts: RMB 14900 per semester; RMB 29000 per academic year.
Science, Engineering, Arts, P.E.: RMB 19000 per semester; RMB 37200 per academic year.
VII. Accommodation
Beijing Normal University International Student Apartment offers single and double rooms. Please refer to the website of the International Student Office of Beijing Normal University (http://iso.bnu.edu.cn/) for the fee information. After receiving the electronic admission letter, applicants can log on to https://bnu.17gz.org/ to apply online.
